Indiana is my home state. I was raised in Fort Wayne. I find it interesting Cruz won the Republican vote in and around the areas of Fort Wayne. Similarly, it's interesting how the Democrats in the southern portion of the state voted for Clinton. I wonder what cultural forces were at play in both locations to lead to such voting trends?
In Fort Wayne I would guess it was the conservative religious community who voted Cruz. I haven't lived there since 1993, but I do know there is a tremendous amount of religious influences in and around the area. I tell people, when I explain Fort Wayne, I always say how different it is from Indianapolis and other parts of the state. I feel like the Cruz vote backs this theory.
